FAQs

What is a reasonable amount of items on a baby registry? ›

How Many Items Should You Add to Your Baby Registry? First-time-mom baby registries typically include between 100 and 120 items. This should be more than enough to cover everything you will need for your baby.

What is the best way to make a baby registry? ›

You can create a registry in person at your local department store, big-box store like Target or Walmart, or independent retailer. You can also make a baby registry online through many retailer sites, a popular option being Amazon.com.

What is a must have on baby registry? ›

Baby Registry FAQ#

Things that I consider true necessities include diapers, wipes, onesies, bottles, swaddles, and a safe place to sleep. However, there's no harm in putting extra items on your registry.

What category are pacifiers in? ›

The investigators concluded that pacifiers should be considered to be attachment objects, similar to other security objects like blankets.

Is it bad to put expensive items on baby registry? ›

That said, it's totally acceptable to put some expensive items on your registry. You can list the things you need, including items like car seats and cribs. Pooling together for group presents is popular, and several friends might pitch in to get a stroller or crib.

How many gifts are too many on a registry? ›

The rule of thumb is to include a little more than 2 gifts per number of guests invited. So if you're inviting 100 people to your wedding, you should include about 225-250 items on your registry. Although this may seem high, it ensures that guests will have ample options when it comes time to pick out your gift.

How many diapers to ask for on registry? ›

For a newborn, it's advisable to register for around 2-3 large packs of newborn size diapers, as babies can go through 8-10 diapers a day in their first weeks.

How far in advance should you make a baby registry? ›

Totally up to you! You can start early or wait. 20 weeks is a good rule of thumb if you're planning on adding gender-specific things. When should you share a baby registry?

What week should you start a baby registry? ›

Well, there's no set timeline for starting a baby registry. However, many parents-to-be like to wait until after the 12-week mark. After all, this is when you can generally start to relax into your pregnancy and get (even more!) excited for your little one's arrival.

What diapers to put on registry? ›

While it may seem counterintuitive to put size 1, 2, or 3 diapers on your registry, especially since the average baby weighs just 7.5 pounds, your little one will grow… quickly. Sizing up ensures you'll have the right diaper on hand when you and your baby come home from the hospital, and for months afterward.

What kind of clothes to ask for on a baby registry? ›

Baby Registry Checklist: Clothing
  • At least 10 onesies.
  • 3-5 pairs of pants.
  • 2-4 footed pants.
  • 5-7 one-piece pajamas.
  • 3 blanket sleepers for a winter baby.
  • 1-2 buntings for a winter baby.
  • Hat that covers ears for a winter baby.
  • Mittens for winter babies.

How many items should be on a registry? ›

For a guest list of 200, that would mean registering for around 400-600 items. On average, most couples divide their 400-600 items between two to three different wedding registry retailers. Make sure you give your guests a variety of items to choose from in different price ranges.

What is a Dodie dummy? ›

Other Names for Pacifiers

Dummy: England and Australia. Soothie/soother: Canada. Dodie: Northern England and Ireland.

Should I put a high chair on my baby registry? ›

It's easy to get caught up in those first few months, but babies quickly grow out of the newborn stage. So while you're registering, don't forget to add high chairs, baby-proofing items, a convertible car seat, a shopping cart cover, activity centers, etc.

How many items should you have on your registry? ›

Q: How many items should be on our registry? A: Start with a wish list. Real Simple suggests registering for two to three items per wedding guest invited.

How many baby bottles should you put on your registry? ›

If you're planning on exclusively bottle feeding, plan to have around six to 12 bottles on hand. This will allow for having a bottle ready to go whenever you need one while you're washing the others. If you'll only be using bottles occasionally, three or four is probably a good number. Caveat: try before you buy!

How many bottles do I need on my baby registry? ›

Six or more baby bottles

As your baby grows into their second month, how often you are feeding them may decrease because they are eating more at one time. If you are also breastfeeding your baby, they will likely need fewer than six to eight bottles per day during that first month.

How many baby wipes should I put on my registry? ›

On average, babies have around 6-10 diaper changes per day. Each diaper change typically requires the use of 2-3 baby wipes. This means that in a week, you could go through approximately 42-70 wipes just for diaper changes alone. It's important to keep this in mind when stocking up on your favorite baby wipes.
